John Barry is a graduate of East Tennessee State University; he attended Science Hill High School in Johnson City, TN. At ETSU he played under Coach Ken Campbell and after a career-ending ankle injury during his senior year he accepted Coach Campbell’s offer to be the graduate assistant coach for the ETSU Bucs which ignited a love for baseball coaching and instruction that continues today. Prior to ETSU, Coach Barry accepted a baseball/basketball scholarship from Brown Mackie junior college in Kansas City, Kansas where as team captain he played shortstop, second base, center field, and batted leadoff. He returns to Knoxville Christian School after starting the baseball program in 2013. During the 2013 and 2014 school years the Knights finished with a record of 44-20-1 and back to back 20+ win seasons. KCS Baseball also earned 2 Division I NACA National Championship runner-ups and the 2014 Southern Christian Athletic Association (SCAA) Championship. Coach Barry lives in Knoxville with his wife Danielle, son Benjamin and daughter Brooke.
