Job Title: K–12 Art Teacher Location: Knoxville Christian School Position Summary Knoxville Christian School is seeking a passionate and creative K–12 Art Teacher to inspire students through visual arts while integrating a Christ-centered worldview. The ideal candidate will cultivate artistic expression, creativity, and appreciation for the arts across all grade levels, fostering both skill development and spiritual growth. Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive K–12 art curriculum aligned with school standards and Christian values
  • Teach a variety of artistic disciplines, including drawing, painting, sculpture, design, and art history
  • Encourage creativity, critical thinking, and individual artistic expression in students
  • Integrate biblical principles into lessons and classroom environment
  • Assess and evaluate student progress through projects, portfolios, and participation
  • Maintain an organized, safe, and engaging classroom environment
  • Plan and display student artwork throughout the school and at events
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to support school-wide initiatives and interdisciplinary learning
  • Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress and needs

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree (minimum) in Art Education, Fine Arts, or a related field
  • Valid teaching certification (or ability to obtain one)
  • Experience teaching art at multiple grade levels preferred

  • A personal commitment to the Christian faith and ability to integrate faith into teaching
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Job Description

Job Responsibilities:

  • Set high academic standards for every student in the class while still adapting to the individual needs of each child.
  • Prepare lesson plans in advance that teach core objectives and principles that are relevant to future education, also showing students how this knowledge is useful in the real world.
  • Teach several different classes of students the rules of grammar, punctuation, spelling and other nuances of the Spanish language.
  • Track and report performance data to determine where changes need to be made and which strategies and methods are working.
  • Attend weekly staff meetings to address unique situations or problems with individual students so you can adapt your lesson plans to meet their needs.
  • Develop stable, solid relationships with students with appropriate boundaries so they know you are available to help them when they need it.
  • Promote parent/teacher/student associations and encourage students and their guardians to get involved in the community and in the school.
  • Attend special events held by the school and engage with students and their parents in an appropriate, friendly way.

Job Qualifications:

Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree - preferably in secondary education or Spanish
  • State certification and/or licensing to be a qualified Spanish teacher, or in process
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the job, including sitting and standing for long periods of time
  • Previous experience teaching Spanish

Knoxville Christian School is growing. We are looking for a full-time worker for this summer for our Early Learning Center Summer Program. This could also develop into a job for the next school year and beyond, if interested.

Hours range from 7:30am to 5:30pm. Flexible shifts are possible such as morning opening, all day, and afternoon closing. Lead teachers/Assistants, openers/closers/ work a lot of hours or just some hours. We offer 4 different classes with students from 18 months old through PK4. Must be at least 18 years old. Lead teachers should be comfortable leading children in activities, morning alphabet and bible curriculum. This is an amazing opportunity to share your passion for teaching children in a Christian environment. This position is for our summer program Tuesday, May 26 through Friday, July 24.
