Job Title: K–12 Art Teacher
Location: Knoxville Christian School
Position Summary
Knoxville Christian School is seeking a passionate and creative K–12 Art Teacher to inspire students through visual arts while integrating a Christ-centered worldview. The ideal candidate will cultivate artistic expression, creativity, and appreciation for the arts across all grade levels, fostering both skill development and spiritual growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive K–12 art curriculum aligned with school standards and Christian values
- Teach a variety of artistic disciplines, including drawing, painting, sculpture, design, and art history
- Encourage creativity, critical thinking, and individual artistic expression in students
- Integrate biblical principles into lessons and classroom environment
- Assess and evaluate student progress through projects, portfolios, and participation
- Maintain an organized, safe, and engaging classroom environment
- Plan and display student artwork throughout the school and at events
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to support school-wide initiatives and interdisciplinary learning
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress and needs
- Participate in school events, staff meetings, and professional development opportunities
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (minimum) in Art Education, Fine Arts, or a related field
- Valid teaching certification (or ability to obtain one)
- Experience teaching art at multiple grade levels preferred
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills
- A personal commitment to the Christian faith and ability to integrate faith into teaching
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Skills
- Experience with a variety of art media and techniques
- Ability to differentiate instruction for diverse learners
- Familiarity with integrating technology into art instruction
- Enthusiasm for extracurricular activities such as art clubs or exhibitions
